Pure adventure escapism. I read this book every few years to cheer myself up. In the hope that one day I might go exploring the Multiverse.

What can I say? He's a SciFi author. If you take the sci fi out of his stories, they pale in comparison. Fantasy is easy to create, because it does not have to stand up to scientific scrutiny. Sci Fi, however, has no such luxury...unless, of course, you consider the effects of scrutiny to be the luxurious reward.

Is it fantasy or sf? Whatever its a great adventure romp, not to be taken too seriously, "Time enough for love" for that.

My favorite book of all time. Oscar is a soldier who fought in Vietnam and finds that he no longer cares for the American dream of security-- he wants adventure. But where to find it? A newspaper ad, of course, one that seems tailored to him specifically. He answers it, and starts his adventure for real. Here there be Heroes, not-quite-dragons, and damsels you wouldn't dream of calling in distress. Science fiction in the guise of fantasy, it's Heinlein at his finest.

Vintage Heinlein, but a step down from his best. Still worth reading - interesting to see him do sci-fi meets sword and sorcery.

Excellent Scifi for it's time. Geared towards teenagers dreaming about the stars, which at one time, I was one of them.

This was a book that I read into rags as a kid. I will always own a copy of it. It's funny how much Heinlein has informed my world view. He was direct and funny about some revolutionary ideas. Shame about Farnham's Freehold, though.

RAH attempt at scifi meets sword/sorcery/fantasy. Not bad if you take it for the "fluff" read it is meant to be. Me ? I'm looking for the multiverse

OMG! I DIDN'T REALIZE THIS WAS A HEINLEIN!!!!!!!!!! I've been trying to remember the name/author of this book for years!!!!!!!!!!!! Just read the description and realized it was a Heinlein. The fantasy elements threw me way off in my search for it... Thanks mom and the science fiction book club. -_- It's their fault for supplying me with an endless library of scifi and fantasy... THANKS WE READ! :D
