I didn't like this one quite as much as the first, though it's still really great.

This is the second fantasy series I have quit in the last two months. I'm really trying to nerd-out, but crappy writing and transparent characters are huge hindrances to finishing LONG LONG books.

The first book in the series is okay. I read it because I met the author, and he seemed extremely nice, and this guy is finishing my favorite fantasy series, The Wheel of Time. Now, I'm seriously having doubts about finishing my coveted Robert Jordan books.

Honestly, where can I find an author who writes awesome fantasy books but doesn't feel the need to write obvious characters and fill up 760 pages with their superfluous conflicts?

Also, I'm not too enthused with this guy's "Dumbledore being gay" post. While I appreciate his honesty, tact and understanding of reality, his beliefs are quite elitist and show that he believes homosexuals to be a lesser privileged order of humans. I don't want to read authors who have seriously flawed reasoning.

Interesting, a nice continuation of the first one - explores the possibility of what would happen if the hero had the ability/power to save the world, but messed up at the last second and doomed everyone. I'm waiting to see how the third one ties it all together.

Sanderson weave an intriquing tale. I am so glad he is finishing the Wheel of Time series for Jordan. His story was fantastic. On to book three!

WOW. Mistborn has got to be the most original and compelling fantasy trillogy I've ever read...on to book 3.

 Warning - slight spoiler alert.
An excellent sequel to The Final Empire. The plot developed very well, it seemed like no sooner did I start to think it would drag than it would be broken up by some serious action. On that note, Sanderson writes some of the best action and battle sequences I have ever read in fantasy. Maybe not "the" best, but he is up there - you can practically see these scenes playing out like something from The Matrix, or Crouching Tiger.
I also loved the character Zane...this is probably the first character I have seen introduced who straddles the good/evil line. I can see why Sanderson killed him off, but I was disappointed nonetheless. I also liked his character because I think I was bored by the relationship Vin and Elend were having by this time, and I appreciated the curveball he threw them.
I am conflicted about the ending. I'm not sure how I feel about Elend's suddenly becoming a Mistborn (too contrived), or about the major plot twist at the end (which is what leads into the third book).
Regardless, this series has proven to be fun and engrossing. After reading 3 of his books now (with Hero of Ages to be next), I can safely say that I will recommend his work to every fan of fantasy I encounter.

A good follow up to Mistborn... Hope the Hero of Ages is still better!
