Thanks to my friend Becky for recommending this book. It was probably the most depressing and sad true story I have ever read. It also brought a lot of discussions with my husband and I on Chinese families and how money and status sometimes becomes far more important then love for your own children. I plan to read other books by this author and highly recommend this book to my friends.

A beautifully written autobiography. The author writes it in a nonjudgmental way that allows the reader to freely perceive the accounts with an unbiased perspective. Motivating. Also a good historical reference. - ACS

The story is really dramatic, but I'm not sure if the foreigners can "understand" how Chinese family worked like this.
