Laugh-out-loud Bryson makes milk squirt out of your nose. Would not read on an airplane for this reason.

I'm not much of a history buff. If this is something you like then you will love this book. Bill Bryson is traveling again. This time he is in the land of the down under. Bryson in great detail describes his adventure and the history behind all that has made up the town. I personally got overwhelmed by the amount of history he dug up. I was reading the book for the travel adventure like he described in "A walk in the woods". I was disappointed in this book and had to put it down for a few months and will eventually come back and finish it.

Entertaining, informative, inquisitive, and sometimes rambling and dry; this book was overall rewarding and a nice read

I have the book on tape rather than the physical tome, but it's read by the author, so it has all the character you could ask for. I love Bill Bryson, and this is ESPECIALLY delightful. It makes me want to a) become a travel writer, b) become Bill Bryson, and c) move to Australia all in one fell swoop. I've literally listened to it all the way through three times and plan on picking up the book itself to add to my personal library when I have some money to spend on books. READ IT. It's as much fun as you can possibly have without jumping on a 20-hour flight for Sydney.
