This is one of my all-time favorites. A very real look inside the success and failure of the creator of Veggie Tales. Every small business owner and digital media person should read this book

What do you do when God gives you a dream, makes your dream successful and then takes it away? Not only a story of the rise and fall of the original VeggieTales empire, but also a story of putting God's vision before your own.

I have no affinity for Veggie Tales as a whole. My kids don’t really get into it. That said, someone recommended this book to me July of 2007. I just got around to reading it, and it is an excellent book. Phil Vischer shares his story of how he built Veggie Tales from nothing and years later lost all of it in bankruptcy court. At it height, Big Idea was doing 38 Million in gross sales, but many factors in and outside the business led to its ultimate demise. In the end of the book Vischer lays out the business (and life) lessons that he learned from his failure with Big Idea. I think that every business person should take the time to read this book and glean from the wisdom that was learned.

If you like to talk to tomatoes... those words changed the face of Christian entertainment in the 1990s. In this tell-all book, Big Idea co-founder Phil Vischer explains how his little show about talking vegetables became an overnight sensation, only to have internal issues, shoddy business, and fickle public opinion ruin it just as quickly. A must for any Big Idea fan.

Phil's book is great. I think you have to be a VeggieTales fan to enjoy the book though. It covers the rise and fall of the company. The book ends with a quick sermon about God's will. I'm glad I read it.

Amazing book that I would recommend to anyone in leadership (and those totally curious about the Veggies!!). I couldn't put the book down. Thank you Phil for sharing this intimate information and for helping others to not fall into the same pitfalls.
