(Listened to via Audio Book) This book was a good continuation. Card spent a lot of time reconstructing the plight and difficulties of Native Americans in this novel. It really resonated with me and showed the true nature of humanity. On one hand, we can be quite loving and cordial. On another, we can be so vile to people we don't understand.

The back-story is a bit complicated still and I really don't see where Card is going, but I am curious of what will become of the forces against Alvin.

Love this series. Amazingly well written. But it simply never ends!! Once I finished book 3 with no end in sight, and he was still working on book 7 or 8 ... I simply couldn't convince myself to keep going.

This is the second book in Card's Alvin Maker series. The story continues the saga of Alvin Jr., who finds himself, along with his brother, captured by a band of renegade Indians doing the bidding of William Henry Harrison who is bent on starting a White Man - Indian war. Alvin and his brother are rescued by the prophet Tenska-tawa, an Indian desperately trying to find a way to peace between the Red Man and the White Man. Alvin is sent by the prophet with Takumsaw, a warrior and the prophet's brother, who is dedicated to raising an army of Indians to drive out the White Man once and for all. Alvin hones his special powers as he learns of the Indians' spiritual relationship with the land they live on and the respect with which they treat it. Overall, a very good read and better than the first book in the series.

I enjoyed the first book, Seventh Son a lot. This one was a tougher read, not 'PC'. However, most books need 'bad things' to happen in order for lessons to be learned.

Very different from the first book in that it goes in to the world of the "red man." I found it interesting but I probably won't continue the series.
