I read this when I was in highschool..(grade 9). It was one for the most spine chilling books I had ever read...couldn't put it down. I fell in-love with Sherlock Holmes. He was just so cool, so cleaver..from this point I've read and watch anything Sherlock Holmes..I'm a big fan of his, even to this day.But..the Hounds of Baskerville is the best!

If I had to recommend one and only one story on Sherlock Holmes, it'll have to be this one! An absolute page-turner. Page after page the reader is constantly amazed at the brilliance of the master detective. The characters in this novel are colorful and the evil Stepleton has to be among my favourite villains. Plot is strong and the setting is ominous and certainly sets the reader in the mood for a good mystery. In fact, I could imagine Poe using the Baskervilles estate and turning it into a Gothic novel as well!

it was a pretty awesome book...i loved it, it was my first sherlock holmes book...although the book is pretty obvious it's still a good read.

For me this is Holmes at his best...I am a Holmes fan, and I love all his investigations, but this one is a stealer.

I enjoyed this book immensely, although you have to get over the old english style language to truly understand whats going on.

I was given a first edition by my late grandpa and in all honesty knew i enjoyed the old 80s series with Jerremy Brett abd i loved this story as it takes a step outside your general Homes book and and twists it with a spice of draculas horrer in its atmosphere a real must in any colection

Definitely a classic for Holmes and Watson fans. Most of them are short stories, but The Hound is of novella length. I knew the story pretty well from movie adaptations (of which there have been many). As well as being engaging there is lots of careful description so that you can almost picture yourself on the bleak moors. You won't put it down.

Hugo Baskerville brought down a curse on his family when he kidnapped a young girl. He died when a hellish hound tore his throat out. Generations later, another mysterious death occurs at Baskerville Hall. Sir Charles Baskerville is found dead, and the illustrious Sherlock Holmes is hired to solve the crime, hopefully before the next Baskerville, Sir Henry, is murdered. Suspects include secretive Barrymore, history-obsessed Dr. Frankland, butterfly-chasing Stapleton, and Selden, the Notting Hill murderer.
