The greatest writer in history's not-so-humble literary beginnings. "Murphy" is hilarious, "Watt" is mind-numbing...ESSENTIAL.

I've only read the trilogy-or what you are not supposed to call the trilogy (Molloy, Molly Dies, The Unameable). I find Beckett's plays more enjoyable. More real. Molloy is a god read if you make someone else read it at the same time so you can flush it out and discuss. Otherwise, I find the question of trying to find oneself very boring in a character when that character isn't struggling against anything real-no "real world" to fight against or question, no person to push you in a corner. I could take or leave all these. But on stage his "stripped down stories" become so much more with a real person, struggling in front of you-though I have wondered during some if they are just struggling to figure out what the heck the play they are in is about anyways.
