A very funny novel that borders on depressing. The author John Kennedy Toole describes his main character, Ignatius J. Reilly as an overeducated 30 year old recluse that is reduced to living off his mother's welfare check. While Ignatius writes his cynical observations of the world in his notepads, his aging & frustrated mother complains about his unambitious & fruitless way of life. The comedy in this novel stems from Ignatius' perception of society, which is one with perverse or corrupt intentions. Needless to say, his attempt in the workforce fails miserably, as do his attempts to overthrow anything. The novel is more humorous than depressing, as every character involved is somewhat over the top. "A Confederacy of Dunces" is a fitting title. A laugh out loud novel.

I believe this book should only be taken in spirits to get good positive outlook towards life. Everyone hopes for the best in their life and the bottom line is think positive to not let your own spirits down. "You become the solution for you.Take time off to give yourself, and in a sense to fill yourself up to fullness, to where now you can overflow in giving."
