Some chapters are far too complicated for the casual reader but it's a fascinating insight into why people believe in such ridiculous things like the paranormal, fortune tellers and religion.

While some of the nonsense that Michael Shermer focuses on as totally weird beliefs (and they are weird) they didn't quite resonate with me since they are a little outdated (i.e. Holocaust deniers) just by the sheer volume of incredibly weird and silly things people believe in now. But the book still get s a five star rating, because it gets right down to the root of these silly beliefs.

Very good book. Too much information, that I had to look up also in other sources. It's worth reading it. Shermer is very Smart and he deals perfectly against different weird believers (holocaust deniers, aliens and UFO's believers, etc)

I really like Shermer. I like to hear him speak, but I'm not sure about his writing style. I often felt a little lost and some of the topics seemed to never end with way more information than I felt I needed. I felt that this book could have been shorter or included more topics (weird things).

Though I picked this book up solely because it discussed how Objectivism is a cult, I ended up enjoying the whole thing. It was a bit boring at times (I've already had the lesson on common fallacies in Logic 101), but ultimately rewarding. Actually, I wish we'd read this in Logic 101.

Not quite a page turner but a well thought out defense of skepticism about the supernatural.
