I love this book! The first 100 pages tell the true story of Simon Wiesenthal as a young man, living in a concentration camp, listening to the confession of a Nazi soldier. The rest of the book are essays from the greatest thinkers of today answering the question, "What would you have done?" Just when I would think, "That's EXACTLY right!" I'd read another essay and change my mind again! Disturbing and inspiring!

Without a doubt the best book I have ever read on forgiveness. Wiesenthal really makes you think on this issue. Everyone I have recommended this book to has enjoyed it immensely.

The first half is the author's first hand account of Jewish imprisonment at the Nazi's hand and is amazing. The second half of the book is the answer from 52 people (atheists, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, etc) to the question "Would you have been able to grant forgiveness?" That got a little tedious.

True story: During the Holocaust, facing possible death and unimagninable humility, Weisenthal is summoned by a dying Nazi soldier to accept his apology for committing a horrible atrocity in which he was a part of. Weisenthal presents the question to a panel of scholars, theologians, other Holocaust survivors, and YOU....What would you do if you were in his place? A profound question, with diverse and profound answers.
