I will never get over Marlon Brando as Stanley. This place is gut wrenching and so fantastic. Worth a read and a watch if you get a chance.

I found this book in one of my math rooms. Nobody claimed it, so I decided to take it. Anyway, it is another depressing book, and quite suspenseful for a mere drama. Blanche experiences abuse and rape from Stella's husband Stanley, but SHE is the one who is taken - more so dragged - to an asylum. Men and their damn masculine pride...

Both book and movie are indescribably phenomenal. Makes a person realize that life sometimes really -is- greener on the other side and make you appreciate an ordinary, sane, normal life.

I bought the play immediately after seeing a performance at the Donmar Warehouse a couple of weeks ago - the play was suburb and the book outstanding.

Rarely do I start a book and not finish, but this junk was too horrible to continue. Perverted, twisted, immoral, depressing and dirty, it's not worth anyone's bother to give it a thought. Why it won awards I'll never know - probably because the award givers were perverted, twisted, immoral, depressed and dirty. Such is the culture we live in.

I've had to study this book two years in a row. The first time I read it, I did not have that much of a grasp on dramatic plays and thought the characters were over-the-top. However, I've grown to love and appreciate this play for mainly FOR its characters. It is a very interesting read.

So many references to this book on The Golden Girls. I love Blanche; as strange as she is, I feel so sorry for her.

See the movie version to get an idea of how whacked out Blanche is supposed to be. Quite thought-provoking: why is desire likened to a streetcar? I didn't really get it until we watched the movie version in class. Marlon Brando--hello! That Blanche is a nutcase. I still don't understand what the title has to do with the plot.

It's harder to rate something you had to analyze for school over and over again. The words take on a different meaning after the 50th time. I did enjoy it the first 10 though.

Amazing play! Watched the film with Marlon Brando right after and he is HOT! Great play! I watched the film version with Marlon Brando right after reading the play and about died because he was sooo hot! Such an interesting story, sex, rape, homosexuality, insanity, domestic violence, so much to take in! Loved every part of it!
