This was the second best book I've ever read, next to my bible. Kept me sane during my darkest years, took me years to read it and changed my life. Another "must have for anyone serious about being a Christian.

A lifelong pursuit of knowing God should embody the Christian's existence. According to eminent theologian J.I. Packer, however, Christians have become enchanted by modern skepticism and have joined the "gigantic conspiracy of misdirection" by failing to put first things first. Knowing God aims to redirect our attention to the simple, deep truth that to know God is to love His Word. What began as a number of consecutive articles angled for "honest, no-nonsense readers who were fed up with facile Christian verbiage" in 1973, Knowing God has become a contemporary classic by creating "small studies out of great subjects." Great book! It is a concise theology for "travelers" and not "balconeers" indeed. Very helpful arrangement of topics, and excellent weaving of them all together. Highly recommended!

Packer has a way of simplifying and reminding us of the "meat" of the gospel. He has a gift for revealing the obvious and bringing out the pathos of the text. Easy to read and inspiring.

Awesome book. Challenges what you believe about the depth to which God wants to be known and how much a beleiver in Christ should know of Him. I have so far to go in my knowing of Him - help me Lord...

This is a deep read and will be a classic when it ages long enough. Excellent book, that will take some time and effort to get through, but if your serious about the topic, this book is a must read.

It took me three months to read this because its so full of wisdom that I had to reflect on mere phrases for hours. It helps you a disciple that should be a part of every Christian's life: reflecting on the nature of God.
