Dumbed-down for folks who aren't willing to actually look at textual criticism. Avoids the meatier of Ehrman's evidence, uses circular reasoning throughout. More concerned about Ehrman's faith than his evidence.

Timothy Paul Jones wrote a good, concise critique of Bart Ehrman's "Misquoting Jesus." He was well-researched and readable. If you or someone you know has questions regarding Ehrman's book, "Misquoting Truth" is a must-read companion to it.

A poor attempt at trying to discredit another persons findings. I would recommened people buy both this and misquoting jesus to really be fair. I own both. Bart is a new testament scholar and textual critic, having studied at 3 universities, wheaton, moody and princeton. The other guy is just a theologian having studied at one college which of course limits the overall picture
Poor attempt at trying to discredit the findings of another person. I own both and his arguments are weak

Did a great job explaining Bart Erhman's sad little "already-tried" that Bible bashing. Do you not know skeptic, that the Holy Spirit can speak through different textual variants?

Great intro into issues raised by current popular questions about Jesus and New Testament origins as brought about by things like the DaVinci Code.

you could read this book without reading "Misquoting Jesus", but you'd miss out on Ehrman's lucid discussions of textual criticism. I read it to get the counter opinion of another theological scholar. it made me decide that people will believe what they want to believe.

Is the Bible as we have it truly God's Word? I have not read Misquoting Jesus, but have recently begun Misquoting Truth. So far I find Misquoting Truth a well-written examination of many challenges to believing that the Bible is both fully human and fully divine. Jones examines a wide variety of Bible passages that present difficulties and evaluates attacks made upon the their reliability.

One of the very few books that truly address Ehrman's claims. Jones does this by establishing the cultural context in which the Gospels were written, not by trying to create an explanation for every biblical discrepancy. I've read a lot of textual criticism, including Ehrman whom I love and respect, but this is the best.
