I am giving up on this book. In the time I would normally read 6-9 books, I haven't managed to get more than a third of the way through this book. A third of the way into it, nothing is really happening and nothing has engaged me to draw me back to the book. For some reason Peretti is seldom able to carry a scene beyond 2 pages so the story constantly shifts characters and settings which is as distracting as it is irritating.

Pretty Cool!!! Be sure to rent the movie also, for a different twist on the story

After a slow start the book picked up and I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. What struck me was how appropriate the title "Prophet" is. Some 16 or 17 years after writing this book, it is eerie how the book, the current presidential election and the obvious bias and agenda of the media parallel. Good read. Very political, I wish there was more of the spiritual in it though.

Overall a good story, but I found it to be slow in places, and it had a lot of repetative detail in regards to the newscasts and how they were done.

One of Frank Peretti's better books! The characters are deep enough and the plot rich enough to keep you going through slow portions of the book. It's not one of his action-packed thrillers, but intense none the less.

Thought it was riveting. I am reading the Spanish version but still every nuance and expression is conveyed in this book. Could not put it down.

This book was so good. I love the way that Frank uses the bible and story writing together to make you think.

Weird but thought provoking book. Makes you think about what you allow yourself to believe about political issues and trends that occur during your specific time here on earth. It is dated, definitely 90's

How do the newsmakers decide which stories are first on the nightly news? Ever heard the term "slow news day". And yet, when BIG stories break -- those like 9-11, War with Iraq, Obama wins Presidency. What other stories ended up as yesterday's news just a breath away from headlines.

I want to say this was Peretti's fourth novel. One and two were the angelic battle-royale novels This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness. Then, I believe came Tilly. Prophet combines some of the best aspects of each of these. It has the nice spiritual battles between good and evil and the very staunch pro-life stance plus an attack on liberal politics and news media. The characters are more well-developed than in his earlier works, but flat, static characters and stereotypes still abound.

That's a great book from Peretti. I deliberatly delay finishing this book, because i was affraid to not find such interesting one to read again. It's about a son that finally decided to come back to his first love after his father death that turned quickly to be a murder. He came back to what his dad taught him about God. He will discover later then the murderers.

I'm a Frank Peritti fan and I look for new things from him all the time. He keeps me thinking and thinking. Love his writing style and his messages. Great read!

very good..shows how money making the abortion industry is, but with a twist of the supernatural insight in seeing things connected with the Media and family issues

A fantastic read. Mr. Peretti shows the inside workings of a tv news program with insight as to how "unbiased" news reporting truly is. The book itself is the story of a newscaster that seemed to have a good life. Until the questionable death of his estranged father[a rather outspoken man] sends him on a journey that sends him up against political leaders and special interest groups with overwhelming power and influence.

I read this book as a young teenager and I must say I think it is still my favorite fiction book ever.As I said in another review, Frank Peretti can tell a story like few others can.This book confronts issues such as abortion, spiritual gifts, and the inner longings, guilt, and misery of those without God as they search for fulfillment apart from Him.It also takes an extremely interesting inside look at television so-called "news." Again - probably my favorite fiction book of all time.
