This is an excellent account of the lives of five missionary families who traveled to Equador to minister to the Auca Indians. It is a true story told by one of the missionaries' wives. This story is inspriring and shows true dedication for the cause of Christ.

We just finished reading this as a family. To me, it's a slow burning fuse that finally ignites in the chapter simply called "Silence". It's a good read, but I think my kids at time were lost in the slow process Elliot takes to tell the story everyone wants to hear: "Why did the men go? And did they have to die?" We read the 25th Anniversary edition and it contains the two epilogues Elisabeth wrote - one in 1958, the other in 1981 - and are as good as the story itself. For anyone who has read or seen "The End of the Spear" this is a good companion volume to it.

This book is AMAZING! Such a sacrifice these people made for our Lord-- Elisabeth Elliot is to be commended for this--her courage is outstanding. Everyone should read this!
