Fourth in the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series.

Mma. Ramotswe and Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni have still not set a wedding date, and she wonders if they ever will.

Mma. Makutsi decides that the only way to get ahead financially is to start a business of her own. With a bit of help, she starts a typing school for men, where she finds love for the first time.

Despite the drama in their personal life, the two women also find the time to solve a few cases. The opening of a new detective agency is of some concern, until they meet the detective. He is a sexist pig thinks he's a lot better at detecting than he actually is.

I never imagined I could enjoy this slow of a pace.... But it's lovely. And, in its own, gentle way, rather suspenseful... A perfect summer read!

Mma Makutsi becomes your favorite as her character gets further developed in this volume. I love it just as much as the first 3.

Such a lovely read. Mma Ramotswe and Mma Makutsi are lovable characters, and for once I didn't figure out "who'd done it" until almost the end. Alexander Smith once again brings Africa alive.

This is such a charming detective series that I enjoy the stories even when nothing much is happening. The way Mma Ramostwe extracts information from people reminds me of the way Roberto Begnini's character got a restaurant patron to buy the only dish left on the menu in LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL. This is the fourth book in the series but I thought it was the second. I want to rush out and get numbers 2 and 3 right away.

This book may not seem as strong as the others, partly because the personal aspect of it seems more stronger and dominant in the story and the detective aspect has kind of been pushed aside until the last minute. I also feel that I have lost some of the characters inner strength, that was seemingly a big part of who she was in the beginning.
