This was a major departure from her previous works. Her interpretation of Jesus' youth seems to be based on the Catholic Church's version of his history.

It brought to light a new way to see Yeshu. How he struggled with his human self and showed even more his power to love and how much he sacrificed for us.I liked the way she worked the bible stories into her story and how fresh it was as well a plausible. Interesting!

I want to know how many priest Anne interviewed to get inside the head of Christ the Man. I could see where it had to end but could not have drawn a straighter or more sure path straight to the heart. The funny parts of the human-ness of Jesus was just enough to keep the story real. An excellent book from beginning to end! Updated to Delete

Loved Anne Rice's witches chronicles.... can't believe it's the same author! As much as she was able to put me on edge with the witches, she was able to create the opposite extreme of Christ's calmness in this story. Want to read her biography soon.

Excellent book. I kept waiting for a theological/historical slip-up, but she as right on. Rice did an excellent job of humanizing Jesus by taking on the unenviable task of writing from Jesus' first-person view-point. She handled his emotions well, as well as His temptations. Highly recommended.

This book was even better than the first one!! Jesus is portrayed as truly human, but also as truly divine. Very interesting way to show his humanity through his relationship with Avigail.

I'm rather upset that Anne has "found the Lord" and abandoned her vampire books but as historical fiction it was a good read
