Engaging from the very beginning. The murder scenes are pretty descriptive; I.E. explaining all of the gore. But it was a good read.

A very gripping, but dark book. There are many explicit scenes (like cutting up a body and a couple of graphic rapes) but they are critical to the plot and are not gratuitous. There is a lot of social commentary and I think it gives some great insight into life in Japan, which is very different from life in the U.S. The extent to which the Yakuza seems to be able to function in the public eye is very different to any organized crime in the U.S., or more specifically in Utah.

Surprisingly, this is feminist novel but I love it. The story takes place in Japan =) need I say more? That being said, it is a very interesting novel with unique plot…

I just couldn't put the book down, even though at times my blood was running cold, I just had to find out what happened next. Fabulous!!

This book draws you in, and shows you every character's point of view, as the plot spirals into some really disturbing places.

once you start, you can't stop. 4 normal housewife... 1 moment of madness... the story just goes darker. Natsuo Kirino adopts a very descriptive style of writing, you can almost 'see' what is happening...
