well, I had heard a lot of Mahabharta but never knew the whole story. I read it and liked it. The most appealing thing to me was that it was written from the women's point of view which is unlikely in old Indian epics!!

i loved it,it was very strongly written and the entire journey through the mahabharat from the point of view of panchali was not only a fresh perspective but also a very interesting way to look at the old stories which we'd heard or read in our childhood.

this is one of the best books I've read. It appeals to people of all ages be it man or woman. Divakaruni blended history with fiction extremely well and it's almost believable that Draupadi was indeed how Divakaruni potrayed. Would love to read it again and recommend it all. the best book I ever read! combining mythology with fiction was so effortlessly done.

I haven't read a book this quick in a long time.Excellent narration and point of view.Now I know some details of the Mahabharata through and this book has painted a clear picture compared to what I have read before.

Its Mahabharata told from Draupadi's point of view. Its not the best version of Mahabharata, but its the version that tells the story from a woman's point of view.. actually a very intriguing woman's point of view. Its a good read and the story is written so that it is interesting to both ppl who know the Mahabharata and those who never heard about it. Love this book, and I know it has been popular with everyone I gifted it to.

I really enjoyed this novel. So rare is the occasion when an adult fantasy is crafted so well. It was truly amazing that Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni was able to fulfill her childhood wish to tell the female perspective of an Indian myth. Although the end dragged out a bit, the actual ending was deeply satisfying.

Loved the book .. Interesting to see Mahabharata from Draupadi's perspective ! In fact , it has renewed my interest in the Original . The narration, flow , the language .. everything seems perfect . Unputdownable ..

Reading Mahabharat from the point of view of Draupadi was quite interesting...and coupled with the author's flowing prose makes the book quite a reading pleasure! However, the authenticity of 'imagined' romance between Karna and Draupadi (that could never be **spoiler alert**) although very appealing and touching to me personally at some level, is doubtful to me from a historical perspective.

Wonderful............ its like going back to Mahabharat era with Panchali, as she wanted to be called. Looking the great epic from a very different perspective. Chitra, the author, has gone into the mind of Panchali...........

Took me a while to get into this one. Different style than the others and thankfully, Ms. Divakaruni includes a glossary of characters, because I kept getting confused as to who was who. But overall it was very good. I wish that I knew the original tale before reading this though, may have made it easier to follow.

An interesting retelling of the Mahabharatha. You can enjoy it better if you are already familiar with the Epic.

Wonderful book that takes place in India before a foreign came in and introduced the outside world. I find this story full of magic, love, regret, and faithfulness. I would like to see more old Indian culture. tradition and language to enforce the uniqueness of their untouched culture to make this book a treasure.
