I can't really tell if this was slightly better or slightly worse than the original. Don't waste your time with this series. It's not worth it.Perhaps the writing will pick up in this next book. Let's hope so.

Here the series took a sharp turn into a somewhat darker, but much more enthralling and compelling take on the concept. Goldilocks is a total hardass.

a just plain fun read, and, besides for looking for literary shout-outs, you will be trying to figure out which fable every character is from (sometimes it's not so easy)

A little hard to understand if you skipped the first book like I did. Still a good story and a fast read. Good artwork too.

This is worth reading if only to set up "The Farm" scenario, where all the non-human fables live. With the title, I was expecting a bit more Orwell going on. There's still a pretty good revolution led by pigs. Goldilocks makes a good psychotic Marxist-Feminist who likes to sleep with bears. Watch out for Rose Red.

There was something very ugly about the public execution at the end of this story. I know, I know - they were nasty murderers who deserved punishment. But there was definitely a hypocritical 'new boss just like the old boss (who was the new boss)' quality to it. And the reader is supposed to applaud apparently.
