Beautifully written. I really like this book. Worth re-reading every so often.

I loved this book! It's well balanced with a little mystery, drama, and comedy. From the first page I was taken to the 1950's when milk was delivered in bottles and the Beach Boys were first heard at the car hops. It helped me imagine my Dad as a boy growing up in the 1950's.

i usually don't read books of this genre but this one was hard to put down. haunting; it really stayed with me for days. great book

Anything written by Alabama native McCammon is great, but this is probably his best work. A boy starts his summer vacation, unaware that his journey that summer would be so filled with adventure. An enthralling tale. I couldn't put it down.

Love this book! IN the vein of "Stand by Me" growing up in the South in the 1960's. Wish I had found this author earlier!

One of my all time favorites. A mixture of mystery, nostalgia and with a touch of the fantastic. Read twice and enjoyed it both times.

I have read and re-read and passed this book on to so maney family and friends and we all love it so much it would be a great film, for those that don't like to read.

One of my all time favorite books! Love it, love it, love! Great book for boys who don't read!! It's along the lines of the movie "Stand by Me" One of my all time favorites. It's hard to find, but so worth it!!
