I am excited to start the next one, but so many questions were left unanswered. I don't like books or movies to end that way. I know it's a series, but each book should have a bit more closure.

love it u should read it if u love twilight and vampire dieries u will love this morewell this book is after city of bones jace is in big trouble and clary who loves him but just found out that jace is her brother has to save him. jace and clary want to be together but cant cause are scared what others would think. simon clary's best freind/ boyfriend turns into a vampire!!!

Among other things going through my mind while reading this book -- like: cool 2nd book! And: noooo Simoooon! Plus: Loooove the tattoo fighting runes! And: The character dynamics are sooooo good! -- I was also thinking: Oh no, she did NOT! NO WAY, she did NOT!????!! Oh but she's dipping her toes in it and I have a feeling it will all work out for the best cos how the hell did she manage to get a go ahead with this book then??!?! I'm off to read the next book.

Second part of the mortal instuments trilogy. Following Clary in the clash with her father Valentine. Clary ajusting to the revelations of a her father being alive, b not who her mother told her he was, c her father being the most feared man in invisible world. Trying to adjust to finding out She's a demonhunter and the boy that she has a crush on is her brother. Throw in a few vampires, werewolfs, demons, and warlocks just to keep it interesting.

The book was great. I never stopped liking it. When Simon came back as a vampire I got chills. The whole thing was great!

So, I'm not going to say that this series is better than Twilight, but it comes really close. There is so much action in this series that you just can't put it down. I love the relationship between Clary and Jace and I really hope something major changes in the last book so it can end the way I want it to. This book is a must read for anyone who loves supernatural beings and a good action story, with a little love thrown in.

Enjoyable! Fun from the start. The characters are easy to connect with and you find yourself rooting for them and being just as appalled with them when they are (and yet wanting it at the same time)

It was really hard for me not to give this one full 5 stars! I want to, but there were some writting style things that bothered me. They obviously werent all that important because I dont remember exacly what it was, but that could have been because I read from 9 at night till 2 in the morning...lol - brain not working so well this morning haha. Spoilers - if you havent read the book continue on to the next review...u have been warned... So I am really really really happy that the relationship between Clary and Jace didnt just abruptly end. I would have been extreamly pissed of if it would have. Yes I know... that they are brother and sister...and it should be completely wrong to have those feelings between them, however; those kind of feelings, you cant just turn off in a blink. So it made me really happy that there is a struggle with it. I kinda dont like how Simon is able to withstand the sun. I am hoping for a reason for it in the final book, and I am stupid for looking, but I already know some spoilers from the net book and It is starting to bug me that Clary is getting everything she wants with no sacrafice. It is not even close to realistic...but thats my rant lolz Anyways read it! Its great!

This book was REALLY hard to put down! I seriously could have just read it all in one day...but hey...gotta make that money right. So anyways, this book goes dives deeper into Clary and Jace's relationship, brings their "father" Valentine into the lime light, you'd never believe what happens to Simon (Clary's best friend that loves her WAY more than that) and I don't want to give away too much because you HAVE to read it for yourself!! Trust me, this book has so many flips, turns and surprises...so if you get bored with this book, its because you have absolutely no personality! hahaha just teasin'...Happy reading! ;>

***SPOILER*** I would probably go 4.5 stars because I really liked it but I still hate that they can't be together... :( WTF with the Inquisitor??? She's this crazy person and doesn't even believe ANYONE around her and has this crazy plan of her own and I can't stand her and then out of no where she saves Jace? And WTF is up with the scar?? What was she going to say??? That was way too much to leave hanging... Are they going to not be bro & sis!!!??? AHHHH! So then Simon turns into this Vampire - what a dumb @$$! I can't stand his jealousy and he annoys me and it annoys me that Clary doesn't see that Jace does all this crud for Simon and to keep him safe so that Clary will be happy. Grrrrr. Can't wait to finish this trilogy. Hate Valentine. What a good boat scene though! Great imagination with the different kinds of demons! Once again Jace saves Simon and now he's a daylighter??! how convenient for him.

I think the author in this second book did a better job of slowing the story down and explaining the complete theroy behind the Mortal Instruments and their world. Although she did a better job by comparison of other things I have read I can not bring myself to rate this book any higher.

Muy entretenido, casi desde la primera página, el final te quedas un poco plof, pero esperando más que nada qeu salga el siguiente! Me quedo con unas cuantas frases buenísimas, ejemplo: "Tu crees que todo el mundo tiene un motivo egoista para lo que hace porque tu solo entiendes motivos egoistas." Algo así era. Cuanta gente así conozco...

I was at a book store and saw the cover of this book and had to see what it was about. I noticed it was the second in a series, so I bought it and the first one. By the time I got back around to this book, I was so invested in the characters that I flew right through it. Luckily for me, I didn't discover this series until all three books were out and was able to go onto the next one. This book is everything the first book had and then some. The action is great and the story is wonderful. There are some aspects of it that are bound to make readers go "what the heck is going on here?" (the whole brother-sister thing). The characters are continually developing and the plot is enthralling! Though this is probably my least favorite book in the series, it's only by default. This is probably the best series I've ever read (or maybe ever will read)! Can't wait for the Infernal Devices series!

Not as good as the first one, but still enjoyable. I'm getting the feeling that she's trying too hard to set it up a la Harry Potter with the grand finale. The entire story could have probably been told in one longer book instead of 3. Easy to cut out some of the irrelevant crap. In any case, still enjoyable and I definitely wanna read book 3 to see where it all ends up!

I really like this series and the fantasy world you're drawn into. Everything is very detailed and real, I can picture it clearly. The only thing I could not get over is the horribly strange relationship between Clary and Jace. What's up with that? It just feels very weird. Can't wait for the next books in the series.

It's awesome. You already know the world, so no explaining in this one, and more dramatic moments with Jace and Clary, as well as Simon's transformation in more ways than one and Alec's struggle to accept himself. Isabelle is basically static, but does seem to warm to Clary a bit more in this book. Final battle is way better than City of Bones.

Cassandra Clare is such a great author! She has me rooting for Jace and Clary....they're brother and sister!!!

Really good sequel to City of Bones. Had me up reading till all hours and avoiding "real life" just to get to the end. Imaginative, lots of action and a frustrating romance element make it a well rounded story that I just couldn't put down.

This book is just as good as the first, maybe even better and here's why... First of all, the relationship between Clary and Jace is RIDICULOUS!! It's so taboo but I want it to happen more than anything - I'm very biased - and it makes the novel much more interesting. The few and far between "intimate" moments leave me wanting so much more... I foresee a very bright future for the two! :) Secondly, the whole Simon situation is awesome. Absolutely awesome... KUDOS Clare. Thirdly, there's so much more action. Instead of spending time trying to introduce us to the Shadowhunter world and establishing characters, Clare concentrates more on the action, the juice, the stuff that makes the plot move. I seriously read this book in around 30 hours and got 7 hours of sleep in two days... I simply could not put it down. Fourthly, City of Ashes gives you absolutely NO closure - it's a wide opened ending, even more so than the first... so my suggestion to you is to have it readily available so you can continue the series. Lastly, in the midst of all this action, you are given more insight to the characters - especially Clary. Clary is a very interesting girl and I definitely dogmatized her right from the start. I really liked getting to know more about her and finding things out just as she did... that is really interesting. Needless to say, I am ecstatic for the third (and unfortunately final) book of the series!
