Well written and very well researched, this was an interesting story that showed a realistic look at Savannah, GA in the years before the American Civil War. It also gives a realistic view of slavery, even showing that not all white people in the South agreed with slavery, though few knew how to stop it. Sheds light on the political climate in the state at that time. The book paints fantastic pictures of the architecture of the city and creates breathtaking vistas of the outlying areas.
