So, are you all for patriotism and will die for your country, if need be? Do you feel butterflies in your stomach and have goose bumps when you see a movie on the freedom struggle of your country? Or do you still think that you are citizen of a sovereign? If the answer to any of these questions is yes then you need to read this book more than anyone.This anti-communist allegory was first published in year 1945 but every word of it holds true till date (and will do so till ambition infests human brain and power remains a narcotic). Animal Farm tells the story of exploited farm animals, who mutiny against the farmer and drive him away. But the utopian communism they aspired for was too hard to get. Because just when they thought they were free, they realized that they have agreed to nothing but a far more derogatory slavery (under their own brothers). The book tells of the plight of the citizens of a totalitarian state. Orwell proves his genius by symbolically explaining the complex mechanism of propaganda and brainwashing in a totalitarian state. He mocks everything that has manipulated and exploited the human race since times immemorial; be it the religious institutions, the government or the legal system. The book explains how a nation is made and how evils like terrorism, corruption and poverty creep in. The book unveils the reality of authority and patriotism and explains how patriotism is the most overrated feeling in the world. The book is an analysis of the Soviet regime, and brings into light the gruesome political power games of an absolute nature. The book is an eye opener, and ends by warning the innumerable followers (us humans) that get exploited at will against the egocentric human nature. Anugrah
