Once again, I find myself conflicted about Gaiman's work. I like his ideas more than the finished product -- in this case a graphic novel, or rather a collection of stories. I should add that this is my first foray into the Sandman universe, and may not have been the best choice, but it was available at the library, so I started here. If I find others, I will give them a chance.

Individualtales of Suspense. Creepy in a good way but occasionally a bit off the path, still brilliant.

From reading volumes 1 and 2, I was expecting a longer, overriding plot as opposed to four shorts. I enjoyed volume 3 nonetheless! Gaimon comtinues to show himself off as a storyteller and creative wit.

Contains the two best short stories in the Sandman series: "Midsummer Night's Dream" and "The Dream of 1000 Cats".

I am not really sure what happened in the mind of Neil Gaiman to allow him to write in the manner that he does but I hope that it never changes.

I read all of these, and they are the most amazing comics! The dark, twisted and creative mind of Neil Gaiman is addictive reading! I couldn't put them down. Genius!

A little disappointed here. Just a bunch of stories- no common theme as in the others. Liked Calliope a lot. Liked the idea that if we all dream the same dream, it's possible for us to create real change.

The "Midsummer Night's Dream" chapter, included in this volume, is my favorite Gaiman comic ever.

Eh. A little disappointing after The Doll's House. Out of the four short stories, the only one that really felt enticing was Calliope. The Shakespeare themed issue was fine, as was the cat, but the lack of Morpheus, especially after the analysis of his character in the last issues, felt somehow wrong. To see him as a powerful figure without the depth and complexity we know him to have is strange. Even worse was the one with the metamorphing woman whose face was a complete mess. I felt the concept wasn't completely explained, and I have a sneaking suspicion that she's a DC character I should know about. Otherwise, Gaiman would have further described her plotline... right? Overall, Gaiman's plotline-based epics far outshine the single issues without a connective thread.

The first of the Sandman series I've read. Wasn't expecting a series of short stories in this one, but I'm intrigued about the rest of the Sandman series.
Would read again, if only because there is so much to take in.

Neil G. just keeps up with his brilliant narrative! I DO wish that the comics had not stopped being produced by him, though. 'The SandMan' is quite possibly the BEST comics series ever!

This was basically a collection of unrelated short stories. I most liked the one about Calliope, the 9th muse. Both Morpheus (Dream) and Death remain my favorite characters.

This volume contains several self-contained stories that I absolutely adored. I especially loved the one with the cats as well as the one featuring Midsummer Nights Dream being acted in front of mythological characters.

Still Neil Gaiman gold, but it's probably my least favorite volume thus far. Still, there's some wicked stories here.

With out a doubt, this set of animated tales by Neil Gaiman, are unequaled in prose and artistry.

Now, in English- This set rocks. From all of the different artist involved in its creation, one would think it would be chaotic. It was, in that unique and breathtaking way, that seems to happen only once in most lifetimes. I realize this is a bit pretentious, but try them, you will see what I mean....May you always Dream.
