may 09. strange how similar the theme in this play is to that of lope de vega's dog in the manger but with a very different outcome. to make the dramatic shifts and to fully flesh out the characters requires exceptional acting, which was not on display at the aurora theater in berkeley and so it was difficult for me to assess how this play really works.

Forget "A Doll House." This is the best scandinavian play of the nineteenth century, or EVER.

God I LOVE how sick this play is. Who would've expected it to be written at the turn of the century with all the stuffy Victorian values? Julie and Jean are delightfully twisted creatures and there is little more fun than watching them picnic on one another.
