My least favorite of the Christie's that I've read so far. Thought the plot, characters and twist at the end were all a bit weak.

I didn't enjoy how the murderer was "announced" so to speak, cause there was no surprise to it. But, still a good read on the whole.

This is my first Agatha Christie book. I have been informed by many people that I would love Agatha Christie's books. I admit that is true. I started The Body in the Library this morning. Every free moment I had I was reading the book. How would you react to finding a body in your library? I don't know if I would be as calm as the woman in this book. Mrs. Bantry was thrilled with finding a body in her library. This was her chance to be a sleuth. That is what she was eager for. The Body in the Library is a Miss Marple Mystery. Miss Marple is the sleuth in the village of St. Mary Mead. Mrs. Bantry calls Miss Marple up to the house when the body is found. I enjoyed the book except for the parts that were written in French. Since I have never taken French some of the jokes were lost on me. Ms. Christie's writing style is one that is new to me. The book was a nice easy week end read.

Emotional aspect and simple details of female makeup etc leads to excellent climax / murder mystery uncovering.

A body is found in the library of a country house of a retired military man and his wife. To help clear his name his wife enlists the help of a local sleuth Miss Marple. Where the motives and alibis of a full range of characters is questionable will she be able to find the ones responsible before the innocent suffer. Although I do not read much in the mystery genre it was an enjoyable quick read. As we are used to more complex plots these days it is reflective of the time and I conceive it as quite reserved according to today's standards.

un giallo interessante, che si legge volentieri; forse alcuni particolari decisivi per la risoluzione dovevano essere messi in maggiore evidenza. Ci sono probabilmente prove migliori dell'A., ma la figura di miss Marple qui è assolutamente godibile.

It started out okay, but got kind of boring towards the end. Which is more or less to be expected since it's a short story. I didn't like it because it went kind of out of its element and there wasn't enough Miss Marple. I give it two stars.
