Hard to pick a favourite Agatha Christie--I've only ever read one book that I did NOT like. She will always be the master plotter. But I decided to pick this one as a fave, since it stars the great Poirot, and since her short stories are gems.

An awesome collection of stories tied together by Poirot recreating the labors of Hercules in his own unique way. One of the best collection of stories that Christie has done.

I read the entire Agatha Christie collection as a teenager. I remember them as being very entertaining, and badly translated into Portuguese. And no, I did not have anything better to do at the time (or so I thought). Anyway, I loved the suspense, the middle-upper class settings , and a lot of the characters - not necessarily the detectives.

i like it but i have to admit i'm a bit annoyed that i can't solve them myself and that the person i think did the crime turns out to be innocent

HERCULE POIROT: pequena figura compacta, meticulosa pessoinha de roupas sempre impecaveis, cabeca de ovo e um imenso bigode, magnifico e sofisticado. HERCULES: celebre heroi grago, semideus, que depois de morto, foi colocado ao lado dos deuses do Olimpo e recebeu honras divinas. Aparentemente, ha entre os dois uma distancia abissal. No entanto, e possivel vislumbrar-se um ponto de semelhanca: ambos tinham sido instrumento para a libertacao do mundo de um certo numero de pragas. cada um podia ser descrito como um benfeitor da sociedade em que viveu. Este livro leva o leitor a perceber que, herculea ou nao, nenhuma forca criminosa resiste a inteligencia de seu mais famoso detetive.

Este foi o primeiro livro que li da Agatha Christie e de cara me encantou. Acho que já li metade da obra dela.
