This book is an absolute stroke of genius. It is also incredibly pertinent to modern issues. It is clear, through analysis of this book that the more things change, the more they remain the same. A must read.

This book really deals with the brain washing of a people and any people at that! Should be read by a diverse group of people! I wonder if this is where Lauryn Hill got the title of that album.. one...great book and should be read by all the generations..

Carter G. Woodson discusses the importance of African Americans discovering and valuing their history. He is concerned with the Mis-education of blacks who grow up with the subconscious of conscious belief that they are inferior as they are not aware of the greatness of their heritage and ancestors. Many American blacks grew up not knowing the greatness from whence they came therefore accepted an inferior position in society which led to low self worth causing them to "find their place" in the prisons, drugs, gangs and, in general, at the bottom of society.Excellent read!
