I HATED This Book So Much I couldn't put it down. I hated the Not-So-Hero Hero. I found myself thinking WHY Am I reading This?!?! This Guy is a Spineless No Good Coward. Yet still I couldn't put it down. I SOOOooo Wish he got MORE than just a beating in the end. But then he wouldn't have been able to do the just thing. I read on the train to work & Every time I got off that train I felt like I was in Afghanistan like I was in the Deserts - In the Brown colored background Hosseini described so well. Mang! - I really Recommend this read!!!

I liked that the book portrayed Afghanistan in an authentic way from the perspective of a native. Learning about customs and traditions, perspectives on politics, geography of the area etc was fascinating. I don't particularly like graphic books and this was pretty graphic in several parts. Overall, it kept me coming back for more and I felt satisfied and challenged when it was over.
