This book has a good storyline and I believe will make for a good series. However, there are so many characters that when you read it, either keep notes or don't put it down for any length of time or you'll have to review to remember them. I will read the next one to see how the character further develops.

Another new character for the genius Walter Mosley and another grand slam home run. The characters come at you in 3-D and the ending doesn't let you down. A great read!

Good book, I look forward to the next in the series. My only complaint was a bit too much backstory. I thought some of the detail could have been saved for future books.

This book read like the friend that tells a story and gives far too many details to the point where you tune out all but the most relevant facts. There was far too many characters with far too many details that seemed unimportant, unresolved, and uninteresting. Leonid is by no means Easy Rawlins or Socrates Fortlow. Perhaps that was the point. The aptly named "The Long Fall" is certainly a long fall from the anticipated brilliance of Mosley's previous novels.

I'm almost finished with this book but it is such i good i had to rave about it now. I must read, Walter Mosley at his best.

I have been a Walter Moslely fan since "Devil in a Blue Dress," the first Easy Rawlins novel, but this book is a serious disappointment. It introduces a new character, a New York PI/thug named Leonid McGill,who excuses his murderous activities by telling us that he used to be much worse. I am not convinced. Not Recommended.
