My ratings are solely based on personal preference and I am totally biased :) give me action, violence, love, hate...and I'm there with a bowl of popcorn. I don't compare Shakespeare to Stephenie Meyer, I just rate by how much I enjoyed it. The reason I enjoy a book or a play will be for totally different reasons.

I'm really not sure about this series. I have found that I am starting to like the main character, Rose, a little more. However, the storyline is too predictable (and I'm not a very imaginative person).

I have decided to keep reading the series, though it is not out of any loyalty to the series.

Spoilers ahead!

The argument about moroi not using offensive magic seems kind of weak. Like she's just looking for a way to prolong the story for marketing purposes. I'm sure at the end, they'll rise up and beat the big bad. Like I said before: predictable.

The love story is starting to get annoying. Rose's love interest is Dimitri, but you don't really get to know his character to much through the story. I can't really say what I think about him because all I know is that he's a beautiful badass.

It's Mason that you get to know (and I started to like) and then he's killed off. It kind of seems like a cheap way to simplify the story line. Rather than break the guys heart, kill him and have her live with the guilt. It's been done.

I don't know what happened to me! I started off this series totally in love and then during the time it took the fourth book to come out I realized I didn't NEED to see what happened. I found other books to fill my time and still haven't caught up. Nevertheless, this book WAS a good read and in my opinion the first three were definitely captivating. But I think it might be a testament to the series that I didn't care enough to read onward from that...

I love this series!!!! I have to admit, I hate it when Rose flirted with Mason, but in what book is the main character smart in ALL of his or her decisions? Anyway, I almost cried when Mason died. HE SHOULDN'T HAVE DIED!! Guys like that should NEVER die. He was so nice....But I almost screamed of joy when Dimitri kissed Rose. I LOVE IT WHEN THINGS GO MY WAY!! Anyway, I also liked this book, because it has alot of suspense related to the romance, and the Strigoi attacks. Also because she cought me by suprise a couple of times, and that almost neve4r haappens to me. Now, I can predict some choices the characters make, and one of them is always the one. But I NEVER expected for Mason to die!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE THIS SERIES!!

Rose's world becomes more complicated as her deadly enemies - the Stringoi - begin to kill off entire families, attack her school, and threaten the life of her friends and classmates. When three friends go off to fight the Stringoi, her instinct is to protect them and when the worst happens, she uses both her knowledge and cunning to try and help her friends escape ... with deadly consequences.

I think this is a brilliant sequel to Vampire Academy. I wish Rose had been around earlier, as she would have kicked Sweet Valley High butt and stopped them from dominating the young adult section of library shelves for ten years. Again good writing, although sometimes Rose's inner turmoil wears a bit thin -- but is highly resonant with the doubts that plague a seventeen year old. And sometimes people much older.

I admit it, I'm hooked. With its feisty heroine, a complicated weave of student politics, emotional turmoil and a nasty bunch of undead vampires, this makes a most addictive read indeed. The characters are well developed, and lesser personalities such as Mason and Mia get a chance to shine in this volume. As the Strigoi threat increases, the Moroi must make a very important decision. stand up and fight, or leave their Dhampir Guardiands to take the fall? In terms of pacing, personalities and politics, this series truly leaves Twilight for dead.

As in the first book, Rose steals the show in this one again. I’d have to say I have never read a dynamic and exciting character as her. Her off comments, her toughness, and her thoughts elicited either a chuckle, or a cheer from me. I’d say Rose will be one of my favorite characters ever, and one of the most enjoyable to read.

This time around, the plot was good, although not as intriguing or mysterious as the first one. It still had its interesting moments though, and I thought the storyline with Rose and her mother was done very well. I rather like how Rose played tough, especially in front of her mom (with rather painful results) and her mom is exactly the same way. However both of them also have a soft side to them which neither will show to one another. Their relationship is awkward and they often clash because of their strong personalities and despite this, there’s a underlying deep respect. I thought Rose acted a little childish in this book though and it did get annoying in certain parts of the book. I’m glad Dimitri and her mother gave her a good telling off for her behavior however, how long it’ll take for Rose to stay that way one can never tell.

I absolutely LOVE the tension between Rose and Dimitri in this book. Wow! you can most certainly feel it and the emotions they’re feeling is plain to see. I absolutely love the way both of them are portrayed. Lissa and Christian make a great couple, although because they’re in many ways ‘perfect’ for each other, I think they’re not as exciting to read about than Rose and Dimitri. I am taking a liking to Lissa though, she’s starting to develop into her own character and not always having to hang off Rose all the time. I’m really liking the fact that she’s starting to go on her own and her personality is growing stronger. I’m hoping her character will get even more stronger in the next book.

The ending of this one was a bit of a shocker although shame on me for not seeing this one coming. I think Rose is about to overcome quite of few changes to her life. Whether that changes her personality, we’ll see in the further books to come. There’s isn’t much of a cliffhanger ending, but the particular story arc finishes and you’re basically prepared to read the next ‘episode’.

This book focuses more on Rose’s development, and it’s written well. The main plot advances just enough to keep the reader entertained yet at the same time, wanting us to keep on reading this fantastic series.

Good follow up to the first book. Starts off with an exciting beginning and doesn't really look back from there. Continues the Harry Potter theme with vampires, and the love story interwined. Thrilling finale, and while it is totally unbelievable, that's what you get from a book that is about vampires.

Mead hit her stride with this second of her Vampire Academy series, focusing more on out-and-out action and less on sleight-of-hand narrative tricks. (Which is good, since all she's got in her repertoire of the latter is Pull Plot Point Out of A Hat.) There's still a fair amount of obviousness going on here, but at least this time it comes with a little character growth. Hey, if this keeps up and Rose eats all her vegetables, maybe one day she might grow into a real three dimensional character. Until then we'll settle for UST with hot Russian bodyguards.

From my experience with sequels, they're either amazing or not. Most of the time, the story gets drawn out, but that never happens in Frostbite! I personally find this book even better than the first. Rose is definitely growing up, but she still has her stubborn streaks, which is nice to see (many books like to make the characters 'perfect' after the first book in the series). This one is filled with even MORE action than the first one, even though it's a tiny bit predictable (and, slow: I found myself practically screaming at the book to use magic, and a few pages later, they did) A must-read to those who enjoy vampire books and enjoyed Rose's last adventures.

 Reviewed by Cat for TeensReadToo.com

For Rose Hathaway, life as a Guardian-in-training at St. Vladimir's Academy is never easy.

While her best friend, future charge, and sole remaining member of the royal family member (Lissa) may no longer be in direct danger, the Strigoi (those vampires who drink blood, possess super-strength, have red pupils, and also have no qualms about using their powers over the elements as a method of attack) are still the greatest threat facing their Moroi counterparts.

Rose and her number-one crush, instructor Dimitri Belakov, discover just how significant this threat is when they arrive at what should have been Rose's make-up Qualifier exam with famed Guardian Arthur Schoenberg. What they find instead is seven royal Moroi, massacred in their own home along with their Guardians - and evidence that the Strigoi are now being helped by humans.

With Christmas vacation drawing near, St. Vlad's is on high alert and not terribly inclined to unleash their students into the great wide world. A school field trip to an exclusive Moroi ski lodge is the perfect solution, not just for a Moroi seeking to elude the Strigoi, but also for Rose, who's looking to escape two recent female campus arrivals - one of whom has a history and penchant for flirting with Dimitri.

What guests from St. Vlad's and elsewhere will soon realize, though, is that their enemies are much closer than they think.

FROSTBITE is an engrossing, complex paranormal follow-up to VAMPIRE ACADEMY, with a page-turning plot and deeply layered characters, whose growth and development over the course of the novel is believable and (in some cases) inevitable. Though there were a few scenes that lagged, I had a hard time putting this book down even for necessities like eating and sleeping.

I loved the first book. So its no surprise I enjoyed this one even better...The story, progressively, has grown and has become very intriguing. I liked seeing the new character, Ivashkov, really interesting...Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series continues to suck me in. I am completely and utterly drawn into the world that Richelle Mead has created. Oh yeah, this series completely rocks! Cant wait for another sequel...
