More of the fantasy reading for teens that I have been really enjoying. Once again a strong fiesty female supported by strong male characters. I think this is made more enjoyable because it is set in the modern day world - and how many of us have wondered about the idea of parallel world and unseen happenings?? If this is your thing I would highly recommend it.

New twist on supernatural hunters. Story drags a little in the beginning probably because the main character doesn't know what's going on and the story is told from her point of view. Ending is unsatisfying since it's obvious that there's going to be a second book. Overall, a good book.

I'd like to start by saying that I really didn't think I'd like this. I thought it would creep me out to much and I'd quit reading it. Even though I read a large variety of books, I don't particularly care for creepy, zombie and vampire type books. Well, it turns out that I actually really enjoyed this book. It might have been a tad creepy at times, but not enough to really weird me out or anything like that.

Strange Angels was a thrilling and suspenseful book that kept me turning the pages. Only a severe migrane kept me from finishing it sooner. I thought the characters were very well rounded and there was a great plot to it. However, though I liked her writing style in general, I felt the amount of swearing used was a bit unnecessary. The ending was satisfying, promising a sequel. (Which we already knew there would be.) You can be sure that this is going to be one that I'll re-read.

I'm extremely looking forward to reading Betrayals, the next in the series. Which releases November 17th, by the way. I believe Lili St. Crow's new YA series will definitely be the next big thing in paranormal lit for young adults. So, move aside Stephenie Meyer, you have more than met your match.

Dru is having a bad day: she wakes up to find a white owl (the animal form of her dead grandma) watching her; her history teaher decides to use Dru to prove a point; and she has to shoot her Dad because he was turned into a zombie.
Dru has spent her entire life watching, learning, and hunting things that most people only believe are in fairy tales and stories with her Dad. But now she is alone, and the biggest, baddest thing of all is coming for HER.
Pretty well written, and the plot moved at almost a perfect pace: but my favourite part was when Dru screamed and ran. She doesn't willing pick up the fight, she is terrified, and screams like "a cheerleader in a horror movie" several times.
I liked it, and since I don't enjoy about 80% of paranormal out there, that says a lot.

As if being dragged from town to town and high school to high school weren't bad enough, sixteen-year-old Dru has to deal with ghosts, suckers, wulfen, and zombies.

When her father comes home from his latest hunt, things will never be the same for Dru. With her father no longer able to help her, she is left to fend for herself. And someone is out to get her.

With the help of her new friend, Graves, she manages to stay alive long enough for the mysterious Cristophe to find her.

But is he there to help or does he have other, darker motives?

STRANGE ANGELS is a fast-paced and exciting paranormal jaunt into Dru's life. Ms. St. Crow has developed wonderful characters and a plot that keeps the reader dodging wulfen and suckers right along with Dru and the others.

I look forward to the next STRANGE ANGELS novel.

Hmmmmmmm………So much potential but the author bores me to death! So much to say over so many pages and she just leaves me confused. Usually when I’m reading a book I get a great sense of what the author sees as the monster. The description St. Crow gives of a werwulf had me picturing Cousin It from the Adams family.

Another pet peeve of mine throughout the book was when someone would ask a question. Dru would go into her own little world for 10 or 12 paragraphs and by the time she responded I’d forgotten what she was responding to.

All of this being said I loved the story. I think Dru’s character could have used as much development as Graves. I liked Dru but found I knew more about Graves and loved his character. I will be starting the second book very soon and hope the author loses a lot of her bad habits!!

Dru Anderson has what her grandmother called “the touch.” (Comes in handy when you’re traveling from town to town with your dad, hunting ghosts, suckers, wulfen, and the occasional zombie.)

Then her dad turns up dead—but still walking—and Dru knows she’s next. Even worse, she’s got two guys hungry for her affections, and they’re not about to let the fiercely independent Dru go it alone. Will Dru discover just how special she really is before coming face-to-fang with whatever—or whoever— is hunting her?

Review:

Dru's mom died when she was young, and she ended up spending a lot of time with her grandmother and father. When her grandmother passes away, Dru must scour the country with her dad, a hunter, looking for paranormal beings to kill. With Dru's help using "the touch" her dad's hunts have been very successful, until one night when he goes without her on a hunt, and she fails to tell him about her bad feelings. With her father dead, Dru has to figure out how to survive on her own, decide who she can trust, and find the monsters responsible for her father's death. All this while watching her own back for whoever is hunting HER.

I really enjoyed Strange Angels, there is nonstop action which I love! Dru is a strong protagonist, but she also has her weaknesses like all teenage girls should have. She's scared and is determined not to let that show, even when she begins to feel vulnerable around her new friend Graves. St. Crow is a genius when writing intense and heavily emotional scenes. Her descriptions of the "real world" (no, not the reality show), which are shown through Dru's eyes, are dark, scary, and vivid. She has built a world full of intriguing creatures including; Zombies, Weres (werewulfen), Vampires (suckers), and all kinds of big and small monsters.

The only part that sort of got old was that Dru likes to repeat a lot of the same phrases or lines. Which I'm going to go ahead and say is because of the traumatic death of her father.

Overall Strange Angels was a very exciting book, and fans of Lilith Saintcrow's adult series will also enjoy her YA. I'm anxiously waiting to see what happens in book two of the Dru Anderson series.
