Skip the 3 hour long movie and read the 30 page short story instead.

Awesome - very cool short story. I couldn't stop reading it until I was finished. It made be remember why I like F. Scott Fitztgerald's style.

this is the most eautiful picture. I read the book and this is the first movie based on the book that I would say is better than the book itself. The love, the superb details paint every inch of the canvas of this story. I love this the best.:)
Quite an interesting theory absolutely a thunbs up calssic. Love the author.

So funny! Completely entertaining! Extremely fun to read aloud with a group of friends and family. I don't think Fitzgerald ever meant it to be anything more than a piece of absurd entertainment. (From what I've heard, the movie takes a quite different angle on the book)

It's extremely important when reading this short story, if you have seen the film, to separate them in your mind. The film is so loosely based on this book, as an idea, and there are in fact very few similarities with the exception of a man being born an octogenarian and aging backwards. With that in mind, it's really a beautiful stream of thoughts and a very light read. My only wish is that I had read the story before having seen the movie, which is brilliant as well.

A great short story. Such a different story and was riveting the whole way through. The movie is vastly from the story, so be warned.

Fitzgerald is a great writer who can take any topic or threadbare plot and make it a pleasure to read. Such is the case here. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't read it again.

This is a very short story. Beautiful writing. First of F. Scott Fitzgerald that I read, but won't be the last. This story is nothing like the recent movie it was based on!

I rarely prefer the movie adaptation to the book. In this case, I would really have to say that I was amazed more by the movie. The basic idea about a man who ages backward is the same. However, other than that, the movie gives a different story. The movie delivers this interesting-not so ordinary idea into a more realistic view/condition. I find the book more simple in writing and humorous. Where as the movie engaged me more emotionally

very amusing and very unique story. i liked it a lot.

I do recommend NOT to watch the movie, that carries the same title, but presents a story that is far detached from this brilliant one.

Except for the backward aging process, everything is rather different. Benjamin is a curious reflection of life...where children with their eyes of innocence and untainted perspectives can show the same wisdom as an aged man. It is certainly not through age & experiences that man gains the ability of insight. Like in life, we struggle in our youth to be heard, to be taken seriously and respected...and just when we reach that age when we receive rewards for a long life of hard work, we regress...hoping to capture the youth foregone or possibly compromised.

The real curiosity is with the reader where it is difficult for us to accept the intellectual of a 80-yrd old child but we can certainly shrug-off the sophomoric lust of a 50-yr boy. This book is not about love nor romance...it is the emotional and mental state of every man going through life.

I liked it better than the movie, but I did not really like the movie. There were some funny parts to this story, but I don't think 50 pages was enough to tell it all. Benjamin could jump a decade in only a page or two. I liked the idea, but I just didn't feel fulfilled.

Pretty good. This was such a quick read. I read it in about 1/2 hour. The movie and the book have the same "dreamy" quality and it was interesting to see how much the main character in the book and movie can accomplish in their lives with it going backwards instead of forwards. By the time that the main character is in his prime, he is more knowledgeable about the world which is contrary to reality. Is this making sense? I think I need to go backwards. I really liked it and I can see how this book is an inspiration for the movie, and not a true adaptation.

I received a free apps in Iphone for this short story. Finished up the story on my trip from Raffles Place to simei. An interesting story, but the movie is so much better, more romantic, haunting and tragic. Applause on the reverse ageing idea... but that is it... he goes to war, runs a business, falls in love, has children, goes to college and prep school, and, as his mind begins to devolve, he attends kindergarten and eventually returns to the care of his nurse... and I'm asking, is this it?
Guess I should read the book first before watch the movie

Needless to say, the book is extraordinarily intriging. The twisted tale is hard to imagine, however, once you start thinking about many little things in life become big blessings. Reading this book will let you look at yourself and others in a whole different way, on a different scale - the scale of time. Whether you watch the movie or the book you are in for a surprise ride, full of the extraordinary.

What makes life what its name implies? Is it the inevitable boundaries and restrictions of age, or perhaps the simple comings and goings of love and loss? In this beautifully written short story, Benjamin Button ages from an old man to an infant, isolated from the world, which allows us to discern more measurably the reality of our own aging, as well as the unavoidable circle we must experience... Life is like a clock... It doesn't matter which way it ticks- it will always return to where it began, which in the case of life, implies nothingness.

What an interesting short story! When I downloaded it to my Kindle (you can get it for free from Project Gutenberg or Manybooks.com) I'm not sure what I was expecting. I knew the basic premise thanks to the movie trailer but it was just so interesting to see how it unfolded. I definitely recommend it. It's a quick & easy read & you will definitely want to see where it goes. It plays out much differently than the movie trailers lead you- obviously the film will be different (this wouldn't be much of a movie!). But F. Scott Fitzgerald's imagination was working overtime for this one. Truly fascinating.
