Awesome read. This book as with the other
Heresy boks detail the inner workings and background to the original pre heresy space marine legions. This one of course deals with the Death Guard.

Though the ending left me wondering what
those who took flight in the Eisenstein became?
My best guess, could this be the origin of the Grey Knights???

I'll let you read it and formulate your own
opinion.

Do yourself a favour. If you are reading the Horus Heresy series then don't bother with this book. It's a waste of paper. A minimum of half the book (literally) is a recount of the previous one from someone else's point of view. After that it's a drawn out tale. They could, quite seriously, have just added 50 pages to the previous novel that would have covered everything of importance in this one. Very disappointing.

I didn't think I would like this novel in the Horus series. But I was pleasanty surprised. I really liked hte desription of hte rituals and, once again, the primach were brought to life. They always seem so two dimensional in the games.

I'm really not much into the Space Marines, being more of an Imperial Guard kind of guy, so I went into the book in that mindset and not expecting much when my friend loaned it to me alongside The Founding. I was pleasantly surprised, however, as the book was not only very well written but engaging in a casual enough way where it's easy to slip in and out of the story as you please. Wouldn't say it's one of my favorites, but I'll definitely be giving it a second read at some point in the future.

This book rocks. I have not ready all the Horus Heresy series and wanted to start with a book that looked interesting and full of action. This delivered that, non-stop action blood and gore! Best book yet by James Swallow I think. better than the Blood Angles.

This was an alright book, with some chapter descriptions and likable characters, though the author seems to like "Sisters of Battle" way too much for my own liking.

This is the fourth book in the Horus Heresy series set in the WarHammer 40k world. Now I don't consider this a classic, but there has been some great religion/sociology relations that run as an undercurrent throughout this Sci-fi series.
