I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's totally inappropriate for college students to judge Shakespeare, none of you know anything. If you're reviewing this edition, stick to reviewing the editing, footnotes, and glosses (all of which are excellent).

Yes, I've read all the comedies. And I'm giving Shakespeare 4 stars. How do you like that? What can I say--some of the humor is tedious and falls flat, and the 'happy ending' plots that materialize in the last 2 pages by some stroke of illogical luck are a bit incredible. But the language is astounding, challenging, and beautiful.
Halfway through it and I think the intros and the notes are great.

Since this is a collection of his complete works, I shall do one word reviews over the plays I have read:

Hamlet: Genius
Henry IV 1/2 : Alright
Julius Caesar: ROME!
King Lear: Interesting?
Measure for Measure: Unsettling
Midsummer Night's Dream: Funny
Othello: Squee!
Richard II: Groovy
Romeo and Juliet: Dumb
The Tempest: Okay
Twelth Night: Blah

Bevington does Shakespeare is hands-down the best 'complete works of' I've encountered. Very highly recommended.

Got this used at the UConn Co-op, and didn't sell it back at the end of the semester. Slowly but surely, I've been working my way through Shakepeare's collected works.

This volume weighs a ton, and that is with the type set at ~8 points.
