The book is slow to start, but the ending has you wanting to keep reading the series. Loved them all. can't wait to read them again when they come home from visiting another avid readers home.

This stupid book series is so freakin' addicting!! The characters are great, and don't become awesome all at once. This can be upsetting, since I'm reading book 4 now and one of the main characters hasn't discovered anything about his fate. Totally awesome, though.

It was the author's impressively researched fiddling with history that hooked me. Otherwise I would probably have been content to put this series down after the first book; the characters annoyed me, and the plot didn't have quite enough threads to rope me in at this point. But I simply couldn't resist the siren call of a land where the predominant church is headed by women, astronomy is a forbidden magic out of the East where sphinxes and fire-worshippers dwell, and Swedes are dragon-kin.

Decent enough fantasy. I hope it gets better, but thus far, it's been one of those action fantasies set in a world you have tp learn about with characters you're trying to keep sorted from each other, let alone become interested in. But I'm continuing on to the next book, so obviously it's good enough.

Sorry guys, its "Crown of Stars". Good. Loads of Detail, but you get into it and then you get addicted.
