Other than the fact I played a small part in the making of this book and so am not the most impartial reviewer, this book (actually by Stanford Holst, prof. Harb having written the preface) is the best and most up-to-date of dozens I have read on this subject. It reads like a story, placing the subject matter within grasp of any reader. More importantly, rather than merely paraphrasing disconnected info from older books, as almost all other works do, it introduces new discoveries (some by the author himself, who has personally been to every site discussed) and shows how the various pieces of information about the Phoenicians fit together in a larger picture. A book every Lebanese unclear about history should read.
