This one Probably my favorite Book ever, if you've stuck with Harry since First year and read EVERY book, then you'll understand. Draco Malfoy and Tom Riddle are my personal favorites in this book. Its exciting and very odd. In a good way, of course. I'd hate to hear anyone say anything wrong about it, even if your a christian, unless your doubting that God is real, Harry Potter is not a bad book to read. In this one, Harry travles to the past of another "being" and he faces many NEW dangers. He also faces things every teenage boy thinks about. On the other hand, another boy is facing hard times under a death threat and being forced to complete a task he may die in. Read the book to find out more!!!!

 (4.5 stars from 5)

Exciting, heartbreaking, and delicious, the next-to-last volume returns to the roots that sailed the series in the first place - mystery and intrigue described with a perfect prose that felt too bloated in the previous two novels. Although the magic that forms the basis of the Harry Potter universe itself feels reused and underdeveloped for the first time in Half Blood Prince, the interaction and chemistry between the characters reaches a series high in these pages, and the awkward adjustments the characters must make to adjust to their teenage years is given a more natural treatment in this novel than in Order of the Phoenix.

The tale leads the reader by the nose with a cinnamon-covered delight of a plot to a stunning conclusion and an unbearable cliffhanger that can now be thankfully satisfied with the newly released seventh novel.

It is the middle of the summer, but there is an unseasonal mist pressing against the windowpanes. Harry Potter is Waiting nervously in his bedroom at the Dursleys' house in Privet Drive for a visit from Professor Dumbledore himself.  Not sure why so many people disliked this the most out of the series. It was just as amazing and original. There were several twists, and then, in my opinion, one of the biggest twists was that it was exactly what Harry thought - she didn't mislead us ( *Spoilers* First book: we were meant to believe Snape was the bad guy, but it was Quirrel. Second: was it Malfoy who unleashed the Basilisk? Nope - unintentionally Ginny. Third book: Sirius isn't a murderer, he's Harry's godfather, and Scabbers is Peter Pettigrew! Fourth: Moody was really Barty Crouch Jr. Polyjuiced! Fifth: Ya, Harry's first vision was true, but the second one wasn't. Then comes the sixth, Harry thinks Malfoy is Death Eater and the school is in trouble - and that's what happened. *end spoilers*) I can agree that there were one or two things that were disappointingly written, but even with a death that made physically put the book down to regain my composure, I loved this.

Thanks to an old Potions textbook, Harry becomes a whiz at Potions and impresses the new Potions teacher, Horace Sughorn. Though the book helps Harry, it also has a dark side. Dumbledore tells Harry about Voldemort's horcruxes and they begin to search for them. After the quest to retrieve one of them, Dumbledore is left so weak that he lets himself be killed during a Death-Eater attack at Hogwarts. A bit of Felix Felicis and quick action by the DA ensures that most students are safe. Dumbledore's funeral is heart-wrenching and Harry, finally armed with the prophecy sets out to destroy Voldemort once and for all.

I liked this book. It has nothing on Goblet of Fire, my favorite of the series, but I digress.

Okay, I'll admit. When I discovered Tom Felton, I thought I had fallen in love with Draco Malfoy. However, as JK Rowling herself has pointed, while Tom Felton is a nice guy, he is NOT Draco. So, as I reread the first five books, all I could think was what a tremendous git Malfoy was. Until the scene with Dumbledore. For the first time, I had to give it to Malfoy - he was trying, albeit for the wrong cause. But compared to any other given time in the series when he could have stood up for something, he actually did something. So, grudgingly, I had to give respect to Malfoy, the real Malfoy.

I was also very happy that Emo!Harry did not make a reappearance in this book, because, frankly, there are only so many caps lock letters you can use as a teenager, even if you ARE the wizarding world's savior.

The only disappointment I have about this book is that I'm done reading it and there are no more Harry Potter books. It's the best series I've ever read. In "HP and the Deathly Hallows" I even had tears at one part toward the end. This is the darkest of all the books. I haven't seen any of the movies, and plan to watch them all as my next HP adventure.
These books get better and better. Then there was a plateau with The Order of the Phoenix. But when The Half-Blood Prince came around it just got better again. I'm already into the final installment of Harry Potter, and feel a little sad about it.

Rowling always leaves us wanting more, but never more so than when she completed this sixth book. We have finally gotten to the mystery that is Voldemort and the story that started it all is finally unraveling. Some readers may find that the end is abrupt and the story unresolved, but, oddly, it felt right that she left it where she did. Luckily, for those who are just being introduced to these books, the series is finished and they won't have to wait a full year to get the rest of the story like so many of us did.

Best book in the series so far. One left to go. Maybe I'll read it in time for the movie to come out on July 15. But I'll have to see the 7th movie first and I don't even own that one yet. It's just fun going to movies on opening night because people dress up and it's a sight to see. I saw FUBAR opening night and people brought beer and wore flannel.

This, the sixth installment in the Harry Potter series, is the beginning of the end (in a good way). It starts off fairly somber, but not too bad, but then by the end it has strayed far from the happy-go-lucky young adult tone that the series started with. With lots of mystery and action, combined with an ending that may well leave you in tears, it is a must-read for young adult fantasy fans. Be warned: As I said, there is a somber tone to this book, as well as a MAJOR character death. It leads smoothly into the extremely dark seventh volume (Deathly Hallows) by beginning that mood and tone here. While not nearly as dark as that volume, it did leave me in hysterics from being so upset. That being said, it is great fantasy.

This book is my favorite out of all the Harry Potter books. It has class, order, experiene, and adds lots of intrigue to this deilish novel in which Draco Malfoy, the all time Slytherin hottie and antagonist is somewhaat of a main character also, alongside HArry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny. I wish Ginny would go with Harry , Ron, and Hermione in the last book though.

The story finds Harry, Hermione and Ron in their sixth year at Hogwarts.as Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters are lurking in the dark corners waiting to strike again.harry discovers a potions book with special notes written on the pages that work better than what the textbook has to offer. It doesn’t take Harry long to find out that the book was meant for the “Half-Blood Prince”who might just be a student attending class with them.
well professor dumbledore dies at d end...n d novel is amazing...

Aside from the third book, this was my favorite in the series. Well put together, although predictable, HP and the Half Blood Prince sews together every element of the five previous installments of the series, explaining all but a couple of important ideas...saving those of course, for the seventh book.It was nice to see Draco Malfoy have a bigger part than a mild antagonist that is a replacement for Dudley Dursley, at Hogwarts, though I would have liked to see more of his character. I think Draco has a lot to offer to the story, as is evidenced by the amount of fanfiction revolving around his character...clearly HP fants, myself included, were hungry for more of this potentially dynamic character.

When Harry Potter first came out and a friend gave me the book to read I could not put it down, I was hooked. The first book of the series took me two days to read. There is nothing like curling up in your favorite chair and adventuring through the pages of a book . . ....You never know where you might wind up. . . .The Harry Potter collection brought out the mystical child in me. They re~opened my imagination and belief that anything is possible. They took me to places I always wanted to go and with the magical tools I only used in my dreams.

I got into reading HP late in the game (after seeing a few movies), but glad I finally picked them up. Great reads that will surely stand the test of time. The best magic at Hogwarts is being able to be a part of the story. Sad when it all ends, but it was a fun adventure.

Ah yes, the book where the HP series goes off the beaten path of "Boy goes on a heroic journey" of most fantasy into some weird nonsense of Hogwarts Valley High. I can't even come up with a comparable. Perhaps if Luke decided not to bother finishing his training as a Jedi in RotJ and decided to run off after a childhood sweetheart instead. Asinine? Exactly. Rowling makes Potter so mediocre that Voldemort and company are forced to become retards to allow him a chance. Ugh.

It's like the deep breath before the very end of this serie. It's a judgment after the reading of the 7th book, of course, but I feel it's more pondered.I feel such a dense atmosphere it it, the most unreal tale among the others. It's the only one I've cried for, and the reasons for which I didn't want to go on readinf the last book (I was scared of the consequences!!!).Many times I had to come back through the pages to catch details...so many details!Nothing difficult in its strict sense of course, 'cause the author can express her stream of thoughts such in a natural way that there's no need for further artificial adds! :)

I've read all the HP books now (excepting HP7)and besides the obvious emphasis on witchcraft and sorcery, it is difficult for me not to admire Rowling's writing ability. She has created some wonderful characters and perhaps none more wonderful than Dumbledore. In every book it is love and self-sacrifice that overcomes the schemes of Lord Voldemort.

"Half-blood" is a great read and a touching one. I wanted to start "Deathly Hollows" right away but my daughter is currently reading it! I guess I'll have to wait...

The mysterious half-blood prince had gained Harry an important tool to penetrate into the tampered memory of professor Slughorn, little did he know that the tool he used would cut him unexpectedly as the young Potter realizes the identity of this genius and exotic wizard.

Well first of all i have to say this, Rowling said we would get answers to important questions but this book opened up a whole new can of worms. Now plot wise i couldnt ask for a better book than this. i really enjoyed the fact that Harry's magical talents have grown in this installment new spells were introduced and of course Harry stepped up. now now this whole new can of worms.... i dont know how Harry is going to do all the things he needs to do in the next book but i can tell u this even though the length of the book has already been released, i hope the print is really tiny, and yeah i need to talk about the six book not the seventh... oh yeah Dumbledore's death!! UGH wow i think that whole chapter has tears in the pages..yeah cant wait till the final book comes out!!1
