New Spring tells of Moiraine's unlikely meeting with Lan, and their quest to find the Dragon Reborn. Great prequel to the series.

remember why you started reading Jordan in the first place. If you're tired of being neck deep in trivial side tales and relationships, take a look at New Spring and get happy to read Jordan again.

To me, this novel is how a reader should begin the wheel of time series. It had a very Harry Potter feel.

This entire series, thick as it is, has to be one of my favourites. Re-reading them all now...I think this is the 4th time?

It's pretty astounding to me that I waited this long to read New Spring, but in retrospect I'm glad I did--reading it now, it reads as a sweet and final farewell from Robert Jordan. The chief value of this novel was undoubtedly the nostalgia value in any case, as is true of many prequels. But it worked. It was adorable to see so many Aes Sedai as accepted, and how could anyone who loved the Wheel of Time not enjoy watching Moiraine and Lan meet for the first time? I had been warned in advance that Lan's point of view isn't all that interesting, so I wasn't disappointed. But Moiraine has always been my favorite Wheel of Time female character, and an extended tromp through her PoV didn't change that.

Somewhat short intro to the Wheel of Time lacking any significant events. But a good starting point nonentheless.

Read this only if you have read the main series. It adds a lot of interesting back story for the fan of The Wheel of Time, but is not interesting enough to stand alone.

I bought this book at a dollar store a week ago.I liked some fantasy novels in the past and thought this would be a good entry point back into the genre.I like the author as he attended the Citadel did two tours in Nam and is into hunting and fishing however I am proud of myself for finishing in two nights abook I did not like that much. alot of times I don't even break the half way mark.

Geat book - a real shame Mr. Jordan passed away before finishing the series. This focuses on moraine and her warder. A great book!

An interesting prequel for the series, though I don't recommend reading it before the rest of the series! Takes some of the wind out of the sails of the main books if you do.

Well developed characters, plot line and political intrigue. A little boring at times, but Jordan has an excellent way of writing to educate you on his world without the 'dumby character'
