A profound read. You would never think it could be this easy to connect to a character and his struggles until you sink into Siddartha's thoughts and actions. The simple language Hesse uses allows you to read quickly without lossing the deeper life meanings. But there's no rush and you won't want to when you get pulled into the captivating ideas and people Siddartha encounters on his journey to Nirvana.

if there is one book that speaks wonderfully about advaita(non-dualism) this is it.combine it with the wonderful german bildungsroman...an effective modern classic

Past the age of 30 or so, it seems like it becomes progressively more difficult for a piece of fiction to have any sort of lasting influence on your world view. Siddartha accomplished this in me, in subtle ways, changing my perspective regarding the nature of our existence.
