Love love loved this book. I like how the ending isn't completely happy and unrealistic. Melissa Marr does a good job keeping her "fairy tales" realistic by avoiding cheesy cliches and predictable plots. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

This book is simply awesome. The writing style draws you in and holds you in thrawl. Nice twist on the Summer King, Winter Queen mythology of the Sidhe and Seely/Unseely courts.

If you liked the Twilight series, you'll like this one, too. Passionate romance plus faerie world with some creepy stuff thrown in. Has sexual content so keep away from elementary age kids. OK for middle school on up.

Another teen fantasy romance for readers of twilight to enjoy. Though the writing is sometimes a little clunky the characters are strong and the world Marr has created believable and authentic.

Not quite what I expected. The ending is not what you'd traditionally expect from a faerie tale and its bittersweet. A good modern faerie tale with believable characters. (Hell, the boy the main character is crushing on has piercings everywhere and if that isn't modern...)

As long as she can remember, Aislinn has seen the faeries that are invisible to the rest of us. She knows the rules - don't talk to them, don't attract their attention. But, suddenly, two faeries are following her around, and it's not long before she notices that these faeries are court fey and they definitely want something from her. Confiding in her best friend and sort of crush Seth, Asilinn soon discovers that she has a very important decision to make - one that will affect her world and the faerie world, whether she likes it or not. Combining the perspectives of Aislinn and of the faeries, Wicked Lovely is a complex puzzle that Marr puts together slowly with her narrative. While the story itself is inviting - a forbidden love complicated by the supernatural - Marr doesn't spend enough time constructing the world in which it takes place, and the characters at times are underdeveloped. It's all too easy for Seth to accept that Aislinn sees something that he can't perceive at all, and we get almost no history on her faerie suitor. However, the deep mythological research that was clearly put into this novel shows, and does help fill in the aforementioned gaps.

My first book by this author and I really liked. Although I must confess it was hard for me to start reading it so I had to go back to the first chapters several times. But I already bought the next two books by this author so I'm looking forward to reading them.

While shopping for Twilight gear at Hot Topic, I struck up a conversation with one of the employees. He seemed mystified by the Twilight phenomenon (never having read the books himself) and recommended this book to me as something new to try. Intrigued by his synopsis of the book, I decided to purchase it and read it... something I don't normally do for fear of hating the book, wasting money, and not knowing what to do with it once I'm done. To my great surprise, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was my first time reading about the fey and I can honestly say that I now have a new interest. It captivated my imagination and enthralled me, opening up a world I had not thought of exploring before. I can't wait to read Ink Exchange and Fragile Eternity to further my knowledge of Ash, Keenan, Seth, and the Dark Court.

I was suggested to read this book, so that I would buy my time until Hunted came out....but I read it too fast. Needless to say, it was really good and I may have to read it again.

I really liked this book. I only wish it would have had more detail in the end. I felt like it was working it's way up to an ending that never happened. I enjoyed the authors writing style and can't wait for more books with these characters.

I really liked this book. It is strangely like The Mortal Instrument Trilogy in that Marr talks about Sight (with a capital "S") exactly as Clare does and the very topic the book discusses. However, it was published in the same year (2007) as City of Bones. I don't know if this was intentional, it's just something I picked up on.
The names are also identical to the book I read the two days before this one, "Heart's Blood" by Juliet Marillier (i.e. Irial and Aislinn).
Marr includes little facts at the beginning of each chapter written in the late 1800's and early 1900's that were interesting, but didn't necessarily pertain to the chapter.
I also loved that her chapters were pretty short - like not over 10 pages. That makes reading go by faster for me.
I also love authors who portray the story through the eyes of several characters. It helps me get into the book more than I normally would. Dan Brown, Cassandra Clare, and Marr all do this resulting in their awesomeness.
Here's what I didn't like about the book: the ending. I felt like Marr was trying too hard to be diplomatic. Maybe it's too juvenile of a read for me, but I felt like the characters didn't compromise enough. I would've like for Aislinn and Keenan to fall in the l.o.v.e.'s, but they did not. I did not like this. Maybe if she continued in the future like after Seth died and never put Donia in the picture, I would like it then. haha. I don't know. Every character in the book got what they wanted, but it didn't feel right to me. I didn't feel like Marr believed in this ending, I feel like it was a suggestion she took, could see the logic in and decided that it was for the best to end the book this way. I would've liked to see Aislinn develop some tolerance and open herself up to Keenan. It isn't how I wanted the book to end or how I thought the book should end. However, I am in desperate need of "Ink Exchange". Hopefully she heeds my words and that book ends in such a way that satisfies my desires. haha.
Overall, it was a good book ANNND they were two words I didn't know. Whooo Melissa Marr!
