I think it is Coelho s worst book.It is just an excuse to write pornography under the pretence of philosophy and spirtuality.Very disappointing for serious readers of his work.

its a nice book, super!one of my favorite books. i read this when i sneek on the bookstore after my class where the sales lady and the guard said to me, shoukd i buy the book or justy read it all? hehe i said im just checking it out..:)

i loved this book, then i hated it, then i love it again, now i hate it. its really well written and i was completely drawn into the world of maria (she's the protagonist, a young woman from the interior of brazil who ends up plying the oldest trade in the red light district of switzerland). Personally i think Paulo Coelho is a genius, but because he is a man, i found myself wondering if he could ever capture the essence of marias femininity... anyway, it was a great read, and a wonderful story, i just wish the end was better!!!!!

One of the good work of Paulo Coelho. He described the sex and spirituality side by side. It's a bit erotic due to a well graphical description of "Maria" a prostitute's life. But at the end definitely u understand a new meaning of love.
